Abstract: The issue of food safety is in fore front of the public conciseness. Recent events of food borne illness resulting in product recall, illnesses, and even death has forced this issue into the spotlight. There is a proven and safe technology that could eliminate many of these concerns, it is known as food irradiation. Food irradiation is proven effective and safe with well over 25 years of scientific study. Recent studies show that the public's reluctance to using irradiated food is steadily shrinking [1].
