We describe a class of models used to evaluate and forecast the reliability of complex hardware/software systems. We assume the system may be described through a Reliability Block Diagram. Blocks referring to hardware components are dealt with ?pending? continuous time Markov chain models, whereas blocks referring to software components are dealt with ?pending? software reliability growth models. Inference and forecasting tasks with such models are described.
