The Volterra series behavioral approach has been largely applied in recent years for modeling of nonlinear dynamic systems. Only recently it was used to mathematically model time-invariable systems such as analog to digital devices (ADCs). In this paper, the Volterra series modeling methods for ADC nonlinearity are briefly introduced according to a classification criterion based on the main research trends. And also we indicate that the adaptive Volterra identification, combination Volterra series with Hammerstein and Wiener models is the fashion of modeling ADCs, and besides those trending, the inverse adaptive Volterra model will be widely used in ADC nonlinear error calibration.
