In this paper we introduce the design of a HMM soft-core for the recognition stage in an independent speaker isolated word recognition system, which may be useful in many applications. The design has been oriented towards its reusability having parameterized the number of vocabulary?s words, the number of hidden states and bits of data format. Structural modeling is implemented using VHDL to describe, simulate and perform the design and it is portable among different EDA tools.
