Distributed multimedia applications require end-to- end support in order to meet the temporal requirements inherent in the data: Both audio and video data are sensitive to delay and jitter, which can cause the quality of the data presentation to deteriorate. Scheduling audio and video packets in network routers provides some interesting challenges, particularly when both are integrated in the same class of traffic. In this paper we expand on previous research efforts where audio and video were considered separately and here we integrate both as one class of traffic for scheduling purposes. Our analysis indicates that the scheme presented here achieves the goals of bounded delay, as well as being efficient.
