Bluetooth scatternet is a platform for realizing wireless personal area networks (WPANs), in which the portable Bluetooth devices may move in the range of a scatternet. This paper presents an on-demand routing protocol for the Bluetooth scatternet with mobile Bluetooth devices. We first discuss the approach of scatternet backbone formation. With the scatternet backbone, the static on-demand routing can be done easily. Furthermore, we propose an on-demand routing protocol, which can detect device movement and establish routes in a mobile scatternet. Moreover, we conduct simulation study to evaluate the performance of the proposed routing protocol.
