This work is focused on adaptive equalization for frequency-selective fast fading channels modelled as WSSUS (wide-sense stationary - uncorrelated scattering). A new DFE (Decision Feedback Equalization) scheme is proposed in which the output of an Error Detection (ED) processor is used to control the adaptation of equalizer coefficients in order to avoid error propagation. The ED processor is based on the Filtering Diversity (FD) technique proposed in [4] to accomplish the identification of decision errors. Several simulation results obtained under different operation conditions are presented and show that the proposed equalizer provides a great improvement in SER (Symbol Error Rate) performance compared to conventional adaptive DFE equalizers.
