Geographical Information Systems (GIS) use visualization for data integration and spatial analysis, often linking with a user's application-based models. This paper discusses the potential impact of multimedia for exploring, analyzing, and presenting spatial data. The hypermap concept is introduced as a powerful way to structure the individual multimedia components to enhance user navigation. ICA- Commision on Visualization homepage will hold the links to the hypermap experiment, among others.
