Open Card: Talking to Your Smart Card
July-September 1999 (vol. 7 no. 3)
pp. 53-57
Smart cards offer unique features that make them attractive for mobile (as well as pervasive) computing applications. Most notable among these is their ability to store data securely and to run small programs (see "The Smart Card: Don't Leave Home Without It" in the April-June 1999 IEEE Concurrency). Further more, smart cars are small and easy to take with you. Unfortunately, they are also easily lost. In this second of three articles, the authors discuss smart card technology, focusing on their OpenCard Framework.
