Abstract: This paper shows the application of the Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) in the petroleum industry simulations. The researches already accomplished by GRVa/LAMCE (Applied Virtual Reality Group of the Computational Methods Laboratory in Engineering) will be shown, ratifying your utilization as an important tool in several areas where the web utilization is available. Also it will be shown VR concepts, yours advantages and applicability, besides a set of solutions/applications already developed specifically to the petroleum industry in collaborative environment.
