In software engineering different process models are established, focussing on different features or different application domains. New roles in the development of multimedia computer-aided learning systems (CAL) - hitherto not considered -, their impact on the development process and the extreme interdisciplinary nature of the resulting system require a specific process model. This paper presents an approach for the development of an innovative software process model for multimedia CAL systems by applying the Process Landscaping method. The resulting process landscape focuses on different roles taking part in the underlying software process, providing a role-based view. Additionally, Process Landscaping provides a restructuring algorithm to achieve a different view where activities are arranged by order of their appearance within the software process. This different view provides a process model of the same software process relevant for the project manager as a superordinated role.
