Transcriptional profiling via DNA microarrays allows parallel surveys of patterns of gene expression across the human genome under a wide range of cellular responses, phenotypes and conditions. Effective data mining requires placing gene expression data in its proper genomic and phenotypic context. In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a microarray data warehouse that actively incorporates biological knowledge with gene expression data thereby facilitating knowledge discovery.
