This paper concerns choices that were made during the analysis phase of the ARts-Netlantic project, specifically the database system analysis where digital files are associated to most of the entries in this database. A digital file can be an image, a video, an audio or a text relating to artists and the works of art. Many approaches have been evaluated on how those digital files ought to be inserted in the database. Moreover all digital resources are described with consistency and accuracy. Our research lead us to describe the works of art using the Dublin Core standard and later to use XML to complement those missing attributes that were necessary to adequately describe new media art. The project is under construction, but the way the search engine and the insertions are going to be implemented shall be discussed in this paper.
