Despite high compression techniques for multimedia data transmission over mobile networks, there is need to have efficient routing to meet QoS requirements. This paper presents experimental study to optimize the routing for mobile users running multimedia applications. This approach is another milestone in providing best connectivity to mobile users in any locations, whether wired or wireless. The approach is based on IP Mobility Support protocol [1], which supports seamless switching between different networks and communication devices. The approach proposes a routing optimization solution, which ensures minimum possible delays in packet routing. The packet loss rates for switching from the wired to wireless and vice versa are investigated by simulations.
