MPEG-2 MP@ML has been used widely in consumer electronics, and 422Profile is a special conformance point for the studio and post-production environment. In this paper, a high performance MPEG-2 Profile transcoding based on MC-DCT is proposed, which can dramatically reduce the computation and hardware complexity. The simulation result verified that the proposed approach can get higher quality in luminance component at the cost of slight quality deterioration in chroma space compared with the pixel domain method. It is much effective to be used in the real-time environments.
