Teledesic represents a revolutionary new architectural paradigm for distributed space systems design, production and operations. This paper describes the unique features of the Teledesic space infrastructure architecture, design, enabling technologies, production, deployment and operations that result from the demanding requirements of the Teledesic broadband services and global network design. The paper's introduction discusses the wireless information revolution and the current "Little" and "Big" communications LEOs. The current technological and economic trends that drive us inevitably to higher frequency bands and much larger constellations (/spl ges/1000 satellites) are briefly addressed.
