The purpose of this paper is to help understand how to foster the kind of IT development creativity that can lead to dramatic organizational change. To this end, a creativity model focusing on the impact of group and contextual characteristics on group creative processes is adapted from the organizational literature. This model is employed to help understand the lack of creativity exhibited in an imaging technology development project. The model is then used to identify variables important in IT development creativity research, and provide an understanding of how, they work to influence creativity. This understanding can aid in the future creation and testing of IT development creativity models.
