The TRRD, a database of transcription regulatory regions of the eukaryotic genome, is described. The TRRD database contains information on the structural functional organization of the transcriptional regulatory regions, protein factors involved in transcription regulation, and transcription signals. A model is suggested for representing data in the TRRD. The module structure of transcription regulatory regions are taken into account in the model. This representation mode allows to integrate extensive and diverse information on transcription regulatory regions in the eukaryotic genome. The mode can be used to establish links between known databases. Such as EMBL, EPD, TFD, TRANSFAC. An entry of the TRRD is given as a descriptive example of the structure of the transcription regulatory regions of the alpha-subunit of the human glycoprotein hormone gene. Software allowing to fill the TRRD and search for any needed information is described.
