Current distributed systems are based largely on the client server paradigm that has a relatively simple structure. Technological advances, particularly in object based software design and communication networks, has facilitated both the distribution and execution of software components. However this new environment poses a number of unique problems, such as charging for resources used, finding suitable components by name and by function and binding their network addresses so that it appears as if these components exist in the local machine. This paper presents a number of solutions to these problems. The solutions at this stage are clearly not definitive, but rather are proposed to stimulate further debate and research.
