In this contribution several approaches to decision support in healthcare are discussed. Because of pressures form governments and insurance companies healthcare has to become less expensive while keeping its high standard of quality. ICT can help and decision support systems may provide such help. In this contribution, passive and active systems are discerned and their advantages and disadvantages are discussed. Examples are given of reminder systems.
