With increasing complication in distributed software we must do our best to establish the mechanism of maintaining distributed software. This paper presents generalized software complexity metrics for measuring the computation complexity of distributed programs, and introduces the notion of communication complexity unit based on the smallest process communication group. We affirm that the smallest process communication group is a unifying mechanism for event and process abstraction whatever distributed programming languages are used and advocate it as a basically generalized communication complexity unit.
