Internet and Web-based technologies have become a popular platform for the development of distance education programs. Several corporations and continuing education institutions have started offering Distance Education (DE) on the Web. There is a need for a set of guidelines to help educators in planning and delivery of the training programs in the next generation enterprises. This paper attempts to begin this process by presenting an e-Education framework that describes how the Web can be used to enhance training and education in the next generation enterprises. This framework utilizes the e-commerce frameworks that have been successfully used by many corporations to “web enable” their business. An electronic course was developed with the guiding principles of this framework to demonstrate how it can be used to develop and deliver DE on the Web.
