About David

David Alan Grier is an associate dean in the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. An active member of the IEEE Computer Society, he's a member of the board of governors, chair of the magazine operations committee, and the author of When Computers Were Human as well as numerous other publications, including magazine articles and book chapters. He received a BA in mathematics from Middlebury College, and an MS in statistics and a PhD in statistical computation, both from the University of Washington. Contact David at grier@computer.org.
