Standardization Activities for IPTV Set-Top Box Remote Management

Network operators have begun deploying IPTV services—television and content-on-demand services delivered over managed broadband networks—to the home over the past few years. As IPTV services mature and become more widely deployed, service providers must have an efficient way to remotely configure and manage IPTV set-top boxes (STBs), which terminate the IPTV service in the user's home, render the content for display on the TV set, and allow user interaction via a remote control.
