Warnings for evacuation and other measures from the Distant Early Warning System (DEWS) for Tsunami in the Indian Ocean, are now already in place. Recently, attempts have been made by the author to evaluate the differences in the affects on adjacent beaches for the 2004 tsunami, arising from the orientation and other features for each beach. Consequently, it is now feasible to consider more specific and relevant actions for improving survival and reduction in damage for each beach, based on pre-event simulations of possible future tsunami arising from specific physical
