Keeping up to date with new software engineering methods, practices, and tools is challenging in the best of times, and made even more urgent by today's tough economic climate. This article discusses a survey of software developers and describes high-level themes related to the types of media that were deemed useful for staying up to date. Based on these themes, some important thrusts for IEEE Software digital content are described.
