Developing Mobile Browsers in a Product Line

The author describes how Nokia initiated and used a product line to develop and deliver mobile browser products. He explains in detail how Nokia fine-tuned its organization and ran the operations needed to support the product line approach. The article discusses customers, technology, organization, and processes and suggests rules for initiating and organizing a product line. The author suggests that the product line must be product and application driven instead of reuse or platform driven. He also discusses the challenges faced and errors made at Nokia.
