Surviving Global Software Development
March/April 2001 (vol. 18 no. 2)
pp. 62-69
Alcatel aims for global software development in its switching and routing business. Although there are many good reasons to globally distribute development activities, success is not guaranteed by just opening a development center in a low-cost region. The authors summarize experiences and distill best practices from true global software development involving over 5,000 engineers on almost all the continents.
