We are pleased to announce that Professor Subhasis Chaudhuri, Dr. Jianying Hu, and Professor Yoichi Sato have joined the TPAMI editorial board. Subhasis Chaudhuri will handle papers on image processing within vision (super-resolution, restoration, deblurring, and defocus), Markov random fields, and statistical pattern recognition. Jianying Hu will be responsible for submissions in statistical pattern recognition, image analysis, applications of pattern analysis in medicine, industry, government, and character and text recognition. Yoichi Sato will oversee papers in physics-based vision, image-based modeling and rendering, tracking and gesture analysis, and computer vision for HCI. We look forward to working with them.

Subhasis Chaudhuri received the BTech degree in electronics and electrical communication engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1985. He received the MSc and PhD degrees, both in electrical engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada and the University of California, San Diego, respectively. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at IIT Bombay as an assistant professor in 1990 and became a professor in 1998. Currently, he holds the position of department chair. He has served as a visiting professor at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and at the University of Paris XI. He is a past fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. He is a fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences, and the Indian Academy of Sciences. He is the recipient of the Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Research Award in 2001, the Swarnajayanti Fellowship in 2003, and the S.S. Bhatnagar Prize in 2004. His areas of research include image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition, and biomedical imaging. He coauthored the book Depth from Defocus (Springer, 1998). He edited the book Super-Resolution Imaging (Kluwer Academic, 2001). He is the coauthor of the recent book Motion-Free Super-Resolution (Springer, 2005). He was the program cochair for the IEEE International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV) held in Beijing in 2005.
Jianying Hu received the PhD degree in computer science from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1993 and was a member of the technical staff at Bell Labs in Murray Hill, New Jersey, from 1993 to 2000. She is currently a research staff member at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York. Her main research interests include statistical pattern recognition and signal processing, with applications to document image analysis, handwriting recognition, multimedia content analysis and retrieval, and business analytics. She is a senior member of the IEEE, chair of Technical Committee 11 (Reading Systems) of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, and a member of the IEEE Multimedia Signal Processing Technical Committee. She served as an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Image Processing from 2001 to 2004 and was guest editor for a special issue of the International Journal on Document Analysis and Recognition in 2003. She initiated the biannual series of the International Workshop on Web Document Analysis in 2001 and cochaired its first two installments. She coedited the book Web Document Analysis: Challenges and Opportunities (World Scientific, 2004).
Yoichi Sato received the BSE degree from the University of Tokyo in 1990 and the MS and PhD degrees in robotics from the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1993 and 1997, respectively. He is an associate professor jointly affiliated with the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies and the Institute of Industrial Science at the University of Tokyo. His research interests include physics-based vision, reflectance analysis, image-based modeling and rendering, tracking and gesture analysis, and computer vision for HCI. He has also actively participated in a number of international conferences in the fields of computer vision and computer graphics as an organizing committee member and a program committee member.
