A recent paper in this TRANSACTIONS1on an automatic inference procedure for probabilistic grammars contained major anomalies between the technique proposed and the computational examples given. These would mislead others attempting to reproduce the results and also undermine the apparent validity of what is in fact a sound technique. This letter details and corrects the anomalies.
