ABSTRACT
It is shown that the Wilkes-Harvard and Newton-Raphson iterative division schemes with an order of convergence more than two or three are uneconomical for realization in computers.
INDEX TERMS
Division algorithm, linear, quadratic, and higher order of convergence, logarithmic most-significant digit distribution in division, preliminary range transformation of divisor, Wilkes-Harvard and Newton-Raphson iterative schemes.
