Using of Interactive Learning Environment in Experimental Study

Application of multimedia technology in teaching and knowledge transfer is booming. Pilot experiment uses interactive computer-based gaming in which people play a role in the system being modeled. The behavior of subjects can then be directly compared against the behavior produced by the assumed decision rules of the model. Interactive Learning Environment (ILE) methodology provides a mimic real system for testing economic theories and generating hypotheses. The ILE developed in the paper serves as a tool for understanding the simple structure of a social-ecological system and testing the subject’s misperception of delays. Through their investment decisions, subjects attempt to balance the water in lake to the desired level over time. But without taking consider into the delays existed in the system, it's hard for them to successfully complete the task. The results demonstrate people's misperception of delays in their decision making process.
