To solve the problems associated with conventional PID control for brushless dc motor (BLDCM), such as high current and torque ripple, a new current controller based on fuzzy adaptive active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) are proposed in this paper. The mathematical model of the motor and the principle of ADRC are analyzed. Fuzzy reasoning method is used for ADRC parameters online self-tuning. The current ripple is treated as system disturbance. The current waveform is improved and the torque ripple is suppressed by the proposed scheme. Experimental results verified that the proposed control scheme significantly reduces current and torque ripple and it is a novel modified control method for BLDCM.
