We explain why and how today's trend in computer-supported collaborative work, i.e., so-called social software, should be exploited in systematic business continuity management. We also explain the pitfalls in using social software for business continuity management. As part of the argumentation, we clarify the mutual dependencies of business continuity management and IT continuity management. This clarification is necessary to avoid redundancies and inconsistencies in business continuity management and IT continuity management.
