Software component (SC) technology is regarded as the new hope of upgrading productivity of SC, shortening date of delivery, and raising quality of software. The management, retrieval, orientation and comprehension of the reusable SC are the important factors to realize the reuse of software successfully. For many years, people use various methods and tools to express and search, which have been the key of components library and software reuse and continue to develop following by the deep of reuse practice and appearance of new technology. This article introduces the status of component expression and retrieval method, and estimates the development in the future.
