Biosignals Offer Potential for Direct Interfaces and Health Monitoring
January-March 2004 (vol. 3 no. 1)
pp. 99-103

This Applications department looks into an emerging class of user interfaces. We?ll examine efforts to harness biosignals to enable enhanced computer interfaces. Though still early in the cycle, their great potential for enhanced assistive technologies suggests they will become important, as moretechnical issues resolve themselves. In particular, biosignals can serve for passive health monitoring for the elderly who want to remain at home but need some level of support as they age.
