I recently changed companies and with that move I changed my standards focus. I now attend standards groups that work on SCSI, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, and the like. Ethernet, as IEEE P802, was started in February of 1980, and SCSI is about the same age. What's interesting is that after all my years away from these groups they're still going strong and are still very valuable (even though I wasn't there). The last IEEE-P802 meeting had over 800 attendees.
