Revisiting Whois: Coming to REST

The Whois service that provides information about network names and numbers has outlived its usefulness, but previous attempts to replace it haven't been successful. The authors outline the reasons it needs to be replaced, and highlight a recent effort at the IETF to create a replacement using the REST model.
