Discrete Sensor Validation with Multilevel Flow Models

GoalArt has developed an online sensor validation algorithm that uses multilevel flow models. An MFM describes a system in terms of mass or energy flows and explicitly states the process's goals. The algorithm monitors the process's active alarms and checks them against the causal dependencies that the MFM expresses. If the algorithm observes a discrepancy, it might mark the alarm as potentially erroneous and report the situation to operators and support personnel.
