Probing the Pachyderm: A Plea for Proaction
November/December 2000 (vol. 15 no. 6)
pp. 40-41
The author argues that the AI community should find ways to break down the walls between AI subfields and start uncovering what the intelligent systems field is really like. AI researchers should not create new communities but attempt to bring the subfields more closely together. They should also aim to produce real "game changing" technologies, which could revolutionize computing and help create the new science and technology of massively distributed, multiple-goal, multiple-user, heterogeneous intelligent systems.
