An Intelligent Assistant for Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Verification

To assist underground nuclear test ban treaty verification specialists, we are is developing technologies for automatically processing seismic monitoring data. The intelligent assistant described here isolates "interesting" events by filtering large volumes of continuously arriving data. It also uses an assumption-based truth maintenance system to emulate the human analyst's problem-solving behavior.
