This column examines key standards for EDA, primarily those sponsored by the IEEE Design Automation Standards Committee, and takes a look at developments in the EDA standards world at large. The author gives an overview of the original DASC standard, VHDL, and others including Functional Verification Language e; SystemC Language; IP-XACT, Standard Structure for Packaging, Integrating, and Reusing IP within Tools Flows; Rosetta System-Level Design Language; Electronic Design Intellectual Property Quality; Encryption and (Use Rights) Management of Electronic Design Intellectual Property; SystemVerilog; and Design of Low Power Integrated Circuits.
