Metamodeling: What is it good for?

Abstraction is not a new concept for hardware designers, and metamodeling is but another form of abstraction. The author explores some of the questions as to why, with the proliferation of so many design aids in recent years, the industry has not yet adopted a meaningful way to reuse IP.
