Design and Analysis of a Transversal Filter RFIC in SiGe Technology

This article presents the design of a 3.5-GHz, seven-tap analog transversal filter. The circuit blocks used for the design of the filter in SiGe technology are discussed in detail. The SiGe programmable filter can adapt 0s in its transfer function at various frequencies, depending on its tuned filter coefficients, to implement various filter characteristics. The fabricated chip consumes 250 mW under a 3.3-V supply and occupies 2.16 square millimeters of die area.
