ABSTRACT
<p>The needs of scientists to communicate effectively, collaborate over the Internet, and organize and present data in a structured and accessible manner have become critically important. The web2py framework offers rapid development and prototyping of secure database-driven Web applications and was created specifically with the scientific and academic communities in mind.</p>
