It's false to assume that a plethora of unmediated blogs can and should substitute for actual investigation and thought, followed by editing and then reporting. Print publications' great strength is that they're refereed or otherwise evaluated before being released. And, while the role of print in civilization is radically changing, its unique properties and functions guarantee it a healthy future.
