Submission Instructions
The Call and Calendar section lists conferences, symposia, and workshops that the IEEE Computer Society sponsors or cooperates in presenting. Complete instructions for submitting conference or call listings are available at www.computer.org/conferences/submission.htm.
A more complete listing of upcoming computer-related conferences is available at www.computer.org/conferences/.
Calls for IEEE CS Publications
By exploiting problem-specific characteristics, classical heuristic methods produce acceptable-quality solutions in modest computing times. Meta-heuristics exploit not only the problem traits but also employ proven AI principles.
IEEE Intelligent Systems magazine plans a 2005 special issue on metaheuristic methods as applied to transportation and logistics. Topics of interest include evolutionary algorithms, adaptive-memory procedures, neural networks, and GRASP (Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedures).
Submissions are due by 4 February. Visit www.computer.org/intelligent/cfp15.htm for the complete call.
IEEE Pervasive Computing magazine seeks articles for a July-September 2005 special issue on the use of pervasive computing in sports in ways that enhance the experiences of players, spectators, and judges. The issue aims to address a wide range of sports, including single-player, multiplayer and large team sports, as well as activities ranging from track and field to indoor team sports and racing. The editors welcome papers that report on the challenges of system integration and deployment or describe actual user experiences.
Manuscripts are due by 14 February. See the complete call at www.computer.org/pervasive/edcal0305.htm.
IEEE Design & Test magazine is seeking original manuscripts for a November/December 2005 special issue on 3D Integration. Topics include CAD methods that address the synthesis, placement, and routing of 3D designs and practical 3D integration technologies, including wafer stacking methods and IC technologies.
Additional topics of interest are architectural techniques that demonstrate the utility of 3D technology, architectural studies of caches, evaluations of single- and multicore systems, and the analysis of performance enhancements gained by using 3D designs in place of 2D designs.
The guest editors also seek papers that address design techniques for thermal management.
Submissions are due by 20 February. See the complete call at www.computer.org/dt/articles/cfp0605.htm.
An August/September 2005 special issue of IEEE Intelligent Systems aims to bridge the gap between data mining and bioinformatics. The guest editors seek papers that propose novel data mining techniques for challenges in areas that include the following: genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics; the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of diseases; drug design; systems biology; and the structure and function of proteins and RNA.
The deadline for submitting manuscripts is 7 March. See the full call for papers at www.computer.org/intelligent/cfp14.htm.
IEEE Internet Computing invites contributions for a November/ December 2005 special issue on security for P2P systems and ad hoc networks. Topics include key management, access control, secure MAC protocols, performance and security trade-offs, and denial of service.
Manuscripts are due by 1 April. See the complete call at www.computer.org/internet/call4ppr.htm#v9n6.
For an October/November 2005 special issue on artificial intelligence and homeland security, IEEE Intelligent Systems is encouraging submissions of practical and novel AI technologies, techniques, methods, and systems. Submissions on all research areas relating to both AI and national or homeland security are welcome. Topics include bioterrorism tracking, alerting, and analysis; criminal data mining; deception detection systems; and crime and intelligence visualization.
Manuscripts are due by 1 April. See the complete call at www.computer.org/intelligent/cfp16.htm.
