CAD Management for Concurrent Design
Model Manager from CoCreate Software is a CAD data management system designed to foster concurrent design by organizing models, drawings, and associated non-CAD documents in a project-centric database. Team members can easily locate, access, and store design data while simultaneously working on the same assembly. The product, which can either be integrated with the company's OneSpace Designer Modeling software or used in stand-alone mode, includes versioning, data snapshots, shared parts, change management and permission handling, and history tracking.

Versant's Open Access Suite for JDO and .NET
The Open Access Suite from Versant offers object-relational mapping and data-persistence software designed for both Java Data Objects and .NET developers. The suite integrates with leading development environments including Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio, features performance boosters such as multilevel caching and configurable prefetching to speed up data access, and supports a wide range of databases.

Universal Adapter Framework from iWay Software
iWay Software announced an implementation for the Java 2 Enterprise Edition Connector Architecture, a mechanism for integrating enterprise Java applications with packaged applications and legacy mainframe applications. JCA 1.5 is designed to help create reusable interfaces for more than 250 enterprise information systems that will work on any J2EE 1.4 compliant application server; www.iwaysoftware.com.
Development Platform for Electronic Perception Chip
Canesta announced the availablility of a developer's kit for 3D-sensor machine-vision applications. The Electronic Perception Development Kit, or EP DevKit, bundles a small 3D camera based on the company's Equinox chip. The kit also includes a Windows-based software development environment and a USB interface and cable.
The EP DevKit includes a light source and matching optics in three versions that differ by field of view. The DE205, which provides a 55-degree FOV, is ready for shipping now. The DE208 and DP203 provide 80- and 30-degree FOVs, respectively, and will ship in 2005.
The EP DevKit costs $7,500 with discounts for accredited educational institutions under certain conditions. Volume pricing is also available; www.canesta.com.
Novell Upgrades ZENworks
A new version of Novell's ZENworks provides identity-based automation for application management, patch management, asset management, and OS migration. Version 6.5 includes ZENworks Linux Management—formerly Ximian Red Carpet Enterprise—to provide scalable and centralized management of SuSE Linux and Red Hat Linux servers and desktop systems. ZENworks Linux Management offers updates from a range of public and private sources.

New Antispyware SDK from InterMute
InterMute's SpySubtract Software Development Kit is designed to enable developers to easily and quickly add antispyware technologies into custom enterprise security applications. Built with Microsoft Visual Studio C++, the SpySubtract Engine offers a set of COM-based components and interfaces that add spyware detection and removal capabilities to other programs and perimeter gateway devices, along with source code examples.
