February 1988 (vol. 21 no. 2)
pp. 72-77

A description is given of the activities of the 610 working group, which is organized under the Standard Coordinating Committee of the IEEE Computer Society's Standards Activities Board. The objective of the 610 effort is twofold: to provide a useful reference to those who come across computer-related terminology and want to know what the words mean, and to standardize terminology.
