Simulation is a tool that is being used to extend the limits of the human mind in more and more professions. The expanding range of difficult icult problems to which it is ingow be- applied is suggested by the Table 1 classification of papers presented at the 1978 Summer Computer Simulation Conference, held June 24-26 in Newport Beach, California. Even so, the entire range is not fully represented by the summer conference because it focuses on the simulation of continuous processes. The Winter Simulation Conference, which is also sponsored by the Society for- Computer Simulation, emphasizess- discrete processes.
